Project Birth Center Pensacola is ONE year old! Time flies, and as time has gone on, it has become apparent that our community has a great need for more birth choices. We receive requests for a "timeline" for when the birth center will be opening on almost a weekly basis! So we thought we would update you on our progress over the past year. While it may not look like much has been happening from the outside, we can assure you that the Board of Directors has been busy making things--very important things for the foundation of the organization--happen from behind the scenes. Believe it or not, procuring a building and a midwifery practice is actually one of the last things that will happen!
Since May 2015, we have:
Written the Bylaws and Standing Rules for the Non-Profit Corporation.
Filed and recieved Articles of Incorporation.
Created Organizational Mission Statement.
Submitted 501c3 Application.
Hosted first fundraiser.
Attended Grant Writing Workshop for Impact 100.
Written Start-Up and Yearly Budget for the Birth Center.
Been in contact with more than half a dozen midwives, both local and non-local.
Created timeline of events with tentative open date of Spring 2018.
Over the next few months, be on the lookout for more exciting developments including research blog posts, events hosted by PBCP, and a monthly newsletter. Remember the purpose of this organization is not just to open a birth center but to also welcome and integrate new care providers, specifically out-of-hospital, into the community! We have been in contact with new care providers intending to move to the area and hope to introduce them to you very soon. In the meantime, subscribe to our newsletter for more updates!
